[ Amy and Steve - A Jamaica Wedding ]We are getting married on February 3rd, 2001. We decided to go to Jamaica for the ceremony. It will be my fiance Steve's second marriage and my first. I guess I felt that I'm just getting old enough at thirty-three, that I'd rather spend the money on a destination wedding instead of a big traditional wedding. We have seven couples in all going to Jamaica with us. My parents, sister, and best friend are will also attend -- as well as several of Steve's brothers and sisters (and their spouses). Originally, we were dealing with a travel agent and an all inclusive resort. It ended up becoming a huge mess because the prices kept changing, etc. I finally decided to take a few days off from work and strike off on my own. I contacted Super Clubs Resorts, and dealt directly with a representative. His name is Luis, and he is wonderful! It took several phone calls and several hours of both of our time, but we got it all booked!

We will be going to the Grand Lido Negril resort. It sounds absolutely fabulous. We can have the wedding anywhere on the grounds. Their wedding coordinator will walk us through the grounds and help us find the perfect spot. I've always dreamed of getting married on the beach with no shoes on, and the surf lapping up at my feet. It sounds like this will be possible.

We will be having a big informal reception about a month after we return from Jamaica. It's going to be tropical in theme to correspond with our wedding. I plan on inviting everyone! I can't believe it's only 4 months away...

In amongst all the planning, I'm in the middle of switching jobs and we're looking at houses. The next few months will include a lot of changes, but I'm ready for them. I look forward to sharing my life with my fiancee Steve and his three sons. Wish us luck!

Don't forget to read last month's destination wedding articles! The topics included "planning your cruise wedding" and "butterfly weddings" in Colorado. Have a destination wedding article or summary that you'd like to see published? If so -- please submit it here.
