[You're Still The One]

I have spent so much time working on everyone else's websites, that our own wedding website sat sorely neglected. I have kept the essential elements from that original wedding page, and I have linked them here. Although the buttons to the left don't really go with the "formality" of this website anymore, I simply couldn't bear to part with them. They were a part of our original's site design -- and as such, silly or not, they remain a part of this one...

My, how my tastes in graphics, color, design, and site layout have grown and expanded over the years! I hope you enjoy your visit here at our updated (original) wedding site, and I also hope that you will take the time to visit our "new and improved" one. Please read over our New Orleans wedding and reception summaries below. Thanks for stopping by!

[Our New Orleans Wedding]

I'd like to give a more detailed summary...but Todd and I were in such a blissful daze before and during the ceremony that we have to rely on video for most of the details. That said, here's the best I can do...

So here goes...We were married poolside in the courtyard of Le Richelieu Hotel in the French Quarter of New Orleans. It is a beautiful 4-star hotel that has been completely restored. I can't stress enough how pretty the hotel is. (Paul McCartney has even lived there for three months.) The courtyard is elegant with tropical flowers and greenery everywhere.

Our wedding was *free* with our honeymoon package. It was $365 for three days/2 nights. This included a champagne split upon arrival, two free breakfasts (one is a champagne breakfast in bed), and free cocktails. Tamra, our wedding coordinator at the hotel, took care of ALL of the arrangements. I can't *gush* about her enough. She helped us book a wonderful photographer, florist, and caterer -- and even booked the justice of the peace. (This may not sound impressive -- but you have to take into consideration that we moved the wedding date up from six months to six weeks away. AND I suddenly became a "June bride"...) She even made my hair and nail appointment. If anyone wants more details about the services, please feel free to e-mail us.

The wedding was held at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. About 30 close friends and family traveled from Delaware, Alabama, Texas, California, and Oklahoma for the ceremony. (We even had hotel guests we'd never met before attend.) My attendants all entered to Pachelbel's "Canon in D".

My mother escorted me down the aisle to Wagner's "Wedding March from 'Lohengrin'". My bouquet was medium-sized and teardrop shaped, with magnolia blossoms, english ivy, white rosebuds, and baby's breath. Everyone "oohed" and "ahhed" over it.

I had to watch the video to prove I'd actually walked down the aisle... The only thing we remember about the ceremony is that 1st Corinthians 13 was read -- as was the "Apache Wedding Prayer" and "Marriage Joins Two People In the Circle of Its Love" poem. (This was not planned, but greatly appreciated.)

Right as we were exchanging the rings, the New Orleans skies blessed us with a light mist to cool things off. Not a rain, just gentle sprinkles. (It's good luck to get rain on your wedding day!) We do remember the part about, "by the power invested in me by the State of Louisiana...", however! We used the "Main Title" from Star Wars as our recessional -- which we might add our guests LOVED.

Unfortunately, we were so up in the clouds that we didn't know which guests had attended the ceremony until we went inside for the reception. A humorous note -- the entire time we each thought the other was about to pass out due to heat, humidity, nervousness, etc. We were both okay, but it must have been the happy glazed looks in both our eyes.

[Black and White bubble shot]

After the "I Do's" came the pops of champagne corks. We moved our guests inside to the elegant hotel reception area for champagne and wedding cake.

Our wedding coordinator recommended a wonderful French bakery. Our wedding cake was two-tiered with creme colored almond icing and white chocolate accents, and the inside was four layers with fresh strawberries in between the layers. We purchased our toasting glasses at the Disney store. They had crystal Minnie and Mickey figurines at the bases, and we had our names and dates etched on the glasses. Todd's tux vest and tie had black on black Mickeys on them, and I wore the gold "Mickey sitting on the moon" earrings that Todd had given me for Christmas. (We spent our first anniversary at our friends' Lynn and Michael's Disney Wedding in Walt Disney World .)

We had about thirty minutes for the final portraits and visiting. Then our guests lined up outside with our wedding bubble bottles. The bubbles turned out great in the video -- and in the pictures!!! We had a white horse-drawn carriage pick us up at the hotel entrance, and after the garter-toss and bouquet-toss melee (Dennis Rodman would have been proud), we took off for our first moments alone as man and wife. We blew bubbles at everyone as we passed by. A group of men started singing "Another One Bites the Dust" to Todd, and we heard several shouts of best wishes and congratulations. We think by this time the whole town knew we were "Just Married!!"...

We returned to change into the (surprise) t-shirts that we had printed for the evening. On the front they read, "I went to New Orleans and all I got was this lousy wife/husband...", and on the backs they read "Just Married" and "June 1, 1996". Everyone LOVED them, and we got stopped on the street wherever we went. We had already reserved a private room (for FREE) at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville Cafe, and everyone joined us for dinner.

Following dinner and a lot of drinks, Todd and I accompanied my bridesmaids to get their navels pierced. (I already have mine done, so I was there for "moral support".) After that we all headed to Pat O'Brien's to party the night away N'awlins-style.

Upon arriving in our hotel suite, we found the bed had been short-sheeted by our family. :) We're still cooking up a plot o' revenge for that one... (Seems the front desk gave them the key while we were on our carriage ride.)

The honeymoon suite at Le Richelieu Hotel is absolutely breathtaking. The bedroom has an entire wall of mirrors, and a king-sized oak four-post white-canopy bed. There are two balconies in the suite. The balcony in the living room suite can be used, and opens up over the French Quarter. The suite also has an enormous bathroom, full-size kitchen area, and more closet space than our old 2-bedroom apartment. The rest of the wedding night details are *censored*. Tee-hee!!

Sunday evening we left for the rest of our mini-honeymoon in Gulfport, MS -- Biloxi, MS -- Mobile, AL -- and Pensacola, FL.

Two weeks later Todd's parents hosted a reception for about 50 guests here at home. It was for friends and family that could not attend the out-of-town wedding. We had cake, food, etc., all over again. We also tossed another garter and bouquet just to give an extra chance to those who needed it... LOL!

We originally had a 400+ guest wedding planned for October 1996 in my small hometown. That wedding quickly grew into a monster all its own, and the price to family relationships was just too steep. After alot of consideration, we decided to just do the wedding we wanted -- the way we wanted -- and now that it's over neither of us would change a single thing!! It was all beautiful, very special, and PERFECT!! We wish the same happiness now to every other bride and groom.
