On the 15th of each month we feature a new and magnificent wedding! This is more than just a weekly "best site" contest with a link to the couple's wed-site. We will take you through the entire wedding process...from the planning, to the actual event, and everything in between...including details which made each big day special.

You are the reason I wake up every day...
Anna and Marcus lived as single parents in the same neighborhood and their sons played together as good friends. From day one Marcus caught Anna's eye because he was cute, kind and seemed like a very good and caring father. After a few years Anna thought that she should take a chance and invite him in for coffee, so she did! After that followed several dinner meetings and finally a date to the movies. Marcus touched Anna's hand ever so softly with his finger and from that moment on they were a couple! Anna has a master’s degree in library and information science, and she is employed as a librarian. Marcus is just finishing his master’s degree and will soon start working on his PhD in molecular biology at the University of Gothenburg. The couple resides in Gothenburg, Sweden.

And sleep through the night...
The couple got engaged in a fairly ordinary way; they bought rings and Marcus proposed on March 15, 1999, over a tremendous meal at a nice restaurant. They wanted everyone to know how serious their relationship had become. Marcus, however, knew that Anna secretly dreamt of a 'real' proposal - and so did he! Therefore he popped the question after Anna returned from a vacation in Miami, on the big June holiday in Sweden called “midsummer”. Marcus surprised Anna with the finest champagne and a beautiful bouquet of ten dark red roses and baby's breath. The children were jumping around eagerly, anticipating the answer... And of course it was “Yes”!

You are the reason, the reason...
Anna and Marcus started planning their wedding almost a year and a half in advance. They picked the date November 11th and the year 2000 easily. Anna loves the winter season passionately and the numbers just seemed magical! They both love the ocean so choosing their favorite chapel, Saint Birgitta's, was a given. It lies right by the sea on a small hill with a breathtaking view. The venue is situated not far from the chapel, also by the sea, and it is incredibly romantic with a naval feeling to it. The minute the couple saw it they booked it without hesitation!

The ceremony in Saint Birgitta´s chapel was very romantic and beautiful. A choir of twenty people sang beautifully and the chapel was decorated sparsely with white candles and dark red roses together with baby´s breath - just like the flowers in the bouquet of the proposal. The flowers the bride selected were perfect for her. The wedding colors were white, beige and green -- so the flowers were Freesias bound together in a round-fashion. Anna will never forget the moment her handsome husband-to-be picked her up and handed her the flowers!

The bridesmaids wore a midnight blue, A-line dress and the best man wore a dark suit. There was no kiss during the ceremony because the nervous couple did not hear it when the priest whispered, “you may now kiss the bride”! The newlyweds exited the church in a rain of rice! A black Cadillac then took the happy couple to the reception venue.

Anna selected a two-piece wedding gown. It featured an A-line waist, square neckline and embroidery on the bodice. It included a form-fitted jacket with simulated fur detailing. The dress was a “NIXA Design” and the jacket was designed by Irina Stadig for “Romantica of Devon”. The cathedral-length veil was also by “NIXA design”. Anna wore it with a beautiful gold and pearl tiara from “Warren York”.

It's you...It's all because of you...
The reception kicked off with a toast for the new husband and wife, followed by short speeches from both fathers. Guests enjoyed a superb three-course meal while listening to speeches that made the newlyweds both laugh and cry. The venue was decorated with ivy and white candles in antique candleholders. It looked magical and felt really special and “wintry”. The bride believed in the “less is more” philosophy and was perfectly happy with the sparsely decorated venue and wedding cake. The three-tier cake was beige with golden hearts.

The couple's first dance was a little different from the traditional waltz since they absolutely wanted to get “their song” in somewhere that evening. When they had first started dating both Anna and Marcus happened to secretly go shopping on the same day to buy a surprise-gift for each other. They ended up buying exactly the same thing - a Celine Dion CD. The first song on the CD was “The Reason”. They felt so much in love while dancing to the song. Later comedians entertained, followed by a wonderful band that really rocked the place until well into the night!
