On the 15th of each month we feature a new and magnificent wedding! This is more than just a weekly "best site" contest with a link to the couple's wed-site. We will take you through the entire wedding process...from the planning, to the actual event, and everything in between...including details which made each big day special.

As sure as the season are made for change... Ashley and Daric met in a college Sunday School class, and they both went on a group ski retreat. Ashley and Daric started talking during the ski trip and realized they had a lot in common. They quickly became best friends, and Ashley's mom was the first to point out that she was in love with Daric. Ashley later found out that Daric had fallen for her the first time he saw her, but had never tried to ask Ashley out because he thought she would never date him, or anyone! A few days after their first kiss, Daric said, 'We have to get married!' Ashley thought he was joking, but seriously thought about it. A few days after that, Ashley brought it back up (to try and call his bluff). She mentioned that Valentine's Day was only a couple of days away and it would be the perfect time to get engaged. Ashley asked Daric if he was serious about marrying her and he said, 'I'm as serious as a heart attack, baby! When do you want to get the ring?' They just knew we were in love, and then went and picked out the ring.
Our lifetimes were made for years, so I will be here... Ashley and Daric picked out her engagement ring together, and Daric picked it up from the jewelers the day before Valentine's. They went over to Daric's parent's house to show it off. Daric had planned to do something memorable like a horse ride or a walk in the park, but it was too cold that night! He wanted to propose at midnight so it would officially be Valentine's Day. The ring was burning a hole in his pocket and he could not wait to give it to Ashley. They both sat at the kitchen table...waiting while Daric's mom was on the phone. Finally, it was midnight and Daric jumped out of his chair and got on bended knee. He can't remember exactly what he said, but somewhere in there Daric asked Ashley to be his wife for the rest of his life. Of course, she said, 'Yes!' Then, Daric's mom started crying and yelled over the phone, 'My son just got engaged!'"
I will be true to the promise I have made... Ashley and Daric were married on on December 4th, 1999 at one-thirty in the afternoon at the church where they met -- Porter Memorial Baptist, in Lexington, Kentucky. The colors of the wedding were navy and silver. The flowers included blue delphinium, white lilies, freesia, and yellow roses -- all surrounded with green ivy and holly. The bridesmaid's carried two white lilies tied with a silver bow. The church was decorated for Christmas with poinsettias, garland, lights, and wreaths. The aisles were decorated with garland and freesia mixed with silver bows.
The music included "O, Holy Night" and "The Lord's Prayer" on hand bells played by Reverend Edd Brashier. Daric and Ashley's friend, David Leeson, sang their song, "I Will Be Here" by Steven Curtis Chapman during the lighting of the unity candle. Sharon McKenney played the organ. The attendant's processional was to "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" and "Pachelbel's Canon in D" was played for the seating of the mothers. Reverend William Crawford performed the traditional ceremony for over 275 guests.
Ashley wore a diamond white ball-gown style wedding dress with a silk bateau tank-style neckline. The satin v-back was lined with buttons that ended in a rose and bow at the waist. Bands of satin and illusion circumferenced the bottom of the gown which featured a chapel length train. The bride wore fingertip-length tiara veil which was studded with satin roses and tiny pearls. The bridesmaids wore navy Alfred Angelo princess-line satin dresses with bateau necklines, paired with short navy gloves. The groom wore an After Six tuxedo with a navy tie and high four-button vest. He wore a white rose boutonnière with ivy and holly. The groomsmen matched the groom and wore yellow rose boutonnières.
To you and to the One who gave you to me... The newlyweds held their reception at the beautiful Equestrian Woods Country Club, a house built in the 1800s. The late afternoon menu featured a finger food buffet. The first dance was to "From this Moment On" by Shania Twain. The father/daughter, mother/son dance was to "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole. DJ Jeff Gibson did an incredible job of entertaining the crowd and keeping everyone on their feet!
The wedding cake featured three flavors: chocolate cake with raspberry filling, white cake with raspberry filling, and yellow cake. It had butter cream frosting white flowers with silver leaves. The topper and decorations were a combination of the bridal flowers.
The reception was decorated with a Christmas theme. There were full-sized lighted Christmas trees and wreaths everywhere. There was a small Christmas tree on the present's table with ornaments hung on it that had pictures of the couple as children in them. Tables were decorated with candle globes and wreaths. Favors included candy canes tied with silver ribbons, Christmas-scented votives, and silver bells tied with navy ribbons. The guests rang the bells as the newlyweds ran out to their limousine.
