Oh, my love, my darling...
Dana describes how she met Ayman:
"Ayman and I had been in love for two months only when we got engaged.
Actually for me it was something like love from the first sight! I never
thought that I would get married at this age; the whole thing was like a
dream to us. But it worked on perfectly and I'm living the happiest times of
my life with Ayman.
I met Ayman in my parents' house the first time.
His brother was a friend of my dad & once he came to visit with him
when fortunately I was home. Because he is very attractive, of course I
liked him A LOT. He was the most handsome man I have ever met in my whole
life, and he looks very mature and classy. When we started
talking to each other it was like we'd known each other forever.
He says that he liked my look and style from the first moment we met. We
got really close only after few weeks! It's like you can feel it when two
people are meant to be. I felt so close to him, and because of the amazing
matching between us I felt that we were meant to live our lives together all
along."
I've hungered for your touch a long, lonely time... Dana describes their engagement:
Ayman proposed after we were in a party for a famous
singer in Lebanon. She was singing a song that I really LOVE. He asked me,
"Will you marry me?" All of the people at the party were looking at us! I
was shocked and got nervous even though I was impatiently expecting it. I
just suspected he would propose a year later. But later on I felt it
seemed like THE PERFECT TIME!
We rushed in our engagement because we thought Ayman was leaving to Canada in few
months, so we decided to get engaged before he
left. Since we were in Lebanon for summer, we did the celebration there.
We didn't have a big engagement party, because it was on August 21st and my
brother's wedding was in August 25th. But we made it up with the wedding.
We spent five beautiful months engaged before we got married."
Time goes by so slowly and time can do so much...
The bride discusses their 'big day':
"The wedding began at 1:00 p.m. All my family was at my place at
1:00, and the groom arrived at 2:00. It was full of unforgettable moments.
The groom arrived with fifty cars behind him. As for the groom's car, Ayman
rented two cars -- an amazing 1930 Rolls Royce decorated with lilies
and a long string with cans tied to it -- the other one
a Jaguar X-type. He brought with him a group of six dancing horses
with their riders and a traditional dancing band that performed the
dabke and sayf w teres.
It was amazing! All the people of our village leaned out of their windows to see the show the
horses performed. I stayed in a fancy chair with a wonderful decoration
of red roses around me. The rose decorations were my brother Rabih's idea.
He had promised me a long time ago that he would arrange all of the floral decorations and
he kept his promise. Then it was the time for the
groom to come in and take me, so my heart began to jump from its place!
When I first saw Ayman coming in, a smile spread across my face and also into my
heart. It was a great moment. When he got closer, he kissed me and said, "You look so pretty."
Everyone was starring at us with smiles on their faces. We held each other's
hands. Then he left, because he must wait for me downstairs and for my dad to
take me to him. So my father and brother held each arm and took me down the
stairs with my mother, my sister Mimi, and all my relatives
behind us. They were all crying especially when they saw my dad crying.
You know how it feels to leave your parents and begin your life with
someone. It was like a farewell. My mom and my sister cried a lot, but my
brother and father began telling me jokes so that I wouldn't cry. I did
anyway. Then when I looked into Ayman's face at the end of the stairs,
holding his hands together tight and looking back at me, I saw my future
in front of me waiting. So then I got happy.
We went to his place where there were four dancing bands, an Egyptian band,
a Lebanese traditional band and a Scottish band. When we
went into the hall there was a huge net holding 1500 balloons hanging on the
ceiling and when we went inside the balloons fell on us. There was a confetti
machine at the door, too. It was amazing."
Are you still mine...
Dana describes the reception:
"The reception dinner party at night took place in Mir Amin Palace
at Beittedine. We began the party with a Mexican dancers group that made a
great show and when the time came for us to appear, there were big cinema
screens surrounding the hall playing a video clip with a professional video
of us playing in the snow, riding a Skii Do, and walking along
the sea. After the video clip was complete, a man wearing a skirt with a Chinese
big plate knocked six times and then the smoke machines started
where we stood. We entered the hall from behind the smoke. Everyone
stood up and began clapping for us.
After that we had our first dance to "Unchained Melody".
It was amazing. There was a bubble machine above us blowing bubbles and the lighting was
magenta colored. A spotlight in our name's logo shape
was following us as we danced with a dry ice machine under us. The atmosphere was
wonderful.
As for the music band, we brought the most known classy band in Lebanon with
the orchestra Mohiel din alGhali. There were about 12 performers, an
organ grinder, lyrist, violinist, clarinetist, guitarist, Aoud player, and
Mohieldeen the Zither player. They were all famous professionals.
We also hired three well-known singers -- Shadi Shrayf, Jaafar Sultan and
Sara al Hani. Then the big surprise came when the groom sang a song for his bride. Ayman is
a professional singer. Our guests were completely shocked and happy.
Our wedding cake was a snow white seven-layer cake with red roses around each
layer. Before cutting the cake we held two white pigeons and released them.
Then we cut the cake, exchanged rings and opened champagne. Cheers!
When the time came to throw my bouquet, all the girls stood behind me and
jumped high to get it. On the menu there was a buffet for the main dishes.
It was an open drink party with champagne.
It was wonderful. Everyone was dancing, jumping and laughing. It became
a famous wedding that every magazine in Lebanon talked about, and everybody
said that it was the biggest party they have ever seen. Everything went
unbelievably perfect and amazingly great."
I need your love, I need your love, God speed your love to me...
When asked if there was anything she would do differently, Dana replied:
"Nothing at all."
When asked what she would do the same, she answered:
"Everything. It was completely perfect and well organized."
