In your eyes, the light the heat...
Laura describes how she met Micah: "Micah and I met during our freshman year of college. We both attended the same school and had a class down the hall from each other. We likely passed by one another daily in crowded hallways, but that's not how we met...
We met online. Late one Friday night, I was bored and wanted new people to talk to -- an then, an instant message popped up on the screen.
"Hi. I don't want to freak you out, but we have everything in common!"
He must've caught me at a good moment, because that night at 2:00 AM I met the love of my life. My future husband. He had read my online profile. It had popped up during a search he was doing out of mere boredom. After a few weeks of chatting, Micah started asking to meet me in person; a move I was thoroughly against. The idea of meeting someone from the internet was too weird for me. Then something happened. He spotted me during one of our many walks through the halls of our college. I didn't believe him, but that night online, he told me what I had worn to school. I broke down and agreed to meet. We got coffee on campus a few days later, and shortly thereafter, he asked me out on a traditional date to the movies.
For the next eight months, we were inseparable. Micah started talking about marriage - I assumed it was in the context of many years from then, maybe five years. When he started sizing up my finger and asking what kind of rings I liked, I realized the proposal was coming sooner than I had thought."
In your eyes, I am complete...
Laura describes their engagement: "Micah asked my parents for my hand in marriage one night at a restaurant when I was away from the table.
He purchased the ring and hid it from me for a few weeks.
Then on Christmas Eve 1999, he proposed in front of my entire family.
Since many of them knew about the proposal beforehand, the entire event was videotaped."
In your eyes, I see the doorway to a thousand churches...
The bride discusses their 'big day': "Our wedding was absolutely perfect in our eyes. Guests said it had a 'magical feel' that set it apart and could not be described. It was 70 degrees and sunny. Two years of planning paid off. Everything went off without a hitch; no unexpected twists or errors. We also had the best wedding party anyone could ask for. They were incredibly courteous and helpful."
In your eyes, the resolution of all the fruitless searches...
"The groom and male attendants wore traditional black tuxes. Micah had a black bowtie, and ushers/best man wore long neckties and vests in champagne to coordinate with the bridesmaids. Female attendants wore long, champagne satin A-line gowns with elbow-length gloves and carried simple peach rose arm bouquets. The ring bearer wore a black tux with tails, and the flower girls wore full organza gowns. We had a best man, two maids of honor, five ushers, two bridesmaids, two junior bridesmaids, two flower girls, and one ring bearer.
My gown had a long train and ballgown silhouette. The bodice was richly embroidered with pearls and sequins."
Oh, I want to be that complete...
When asked if there was anything she would do differently, Laura replied: "Nothing!" When asked what she would do the same: "Everything!"
In your eyes...
To sum up their wedding day the bride answered: "I decided to spend our long two-year engagement constructively by utilizing the time to add more custom, personal touches to the wedding. I ordered nearly everything online, and what I could not find, I designed and made. We decided to have a Cinderella theme. I designed and put together pumpkin coach centerpieces, place cards, favors, bubble favors and many other items. I found other custom items online such as a carriage guestbook, crown placecard favors, a crystal castle caketop, and Cinderella slipper ring pillow."
