The Dress of the Month Contest is honored to present our new August 2001 winning couple -- Jennifer and Troy. They were married on March 31, 2001 at Christ Luthern Church in Superior, Wisconsin. Here is the August 2001 Dress of the Month's description, as told by the bride:

"Ever since I can remember I have always known what I wanted in a wedding dress. I had looked at dresses for quite some time because my best friend was married about a year ago, and I was with her when she went dress shopping! The day I chose to go shopping for my own gown, the bridal shop was so packed that it was hard to even think, let alone try on dresses! But I fought through the crowds and found a dressing room. I was given just about every dress off the racks, but I was not impressed. Frankly I was quite disgusted with every dress I was handed. They just were not what I wanted.

My stepmother was browsing through a rack of dresses that were discontinued and she came across (what would soon be) THE dress. She begged me to try it on! With much pleading from her I agreed, although it was not what I was looking for at the time. I loved most of what the dress was, but I wanted an off-the-shoulder dress. The seamstress that works there told me she could make it the way I wanted, and then I was hooked! It was the fifth one I tried on -- how lucky is that!

My gown featured v-neckline in front and back. The bodice was adorned with rhinestones, pearls, and sequins over lace. At the bottom of the bodice in the back there were 5 silk roses, and strings adorned with sequins hung from them. The dress had a dropped waistline with a ballgown skirt and grand cathedral train. The train featured the same embellishments as the bodice."

The Dress of the Month Contest is honored to present our new July 2001 winning couple -- Tara and Tommy. They were married on September 9th, 2000 at the Prince of Peace United Methodist Church in Manassas, Virginia. Here is the July 2001 Dress of the Month's description, as told by the bride:

"I'd pictured my wedding dress in my head my whole life, as most young girls do. But, as my friends dresses would always change, mine never did. I have never been into the simple, straight dresses that are popular today. My dream dress has always been off the shoulder with lace sleeves and pearls on the bodice with a train and a ribbon across the bottom. Our first day of dress hunting, Mom and I went to The Bridal Shoppe in Manassas, VA and told Mona, the most wonderful manager exactly what I wanted. She brought me about 6 dresses meeting that criteria. The first dress I tried on ended up being the dress I bought. It was perfect, everything I had wanted. I tried on all the others, but none held a candle to the way the first one looked on me and made me feel. It all fell into place, perfectly, just like I knew it would."
