Well, since it looks like you've gone this far, you must be pretty interested in joining the Dress Contest Ring. However, there are a few rules that we must ask you to observe and follow first. These rules are:

  • You must a former Dress Contest contestant, honorable mention winner, semi-finalist, finalist, or "top 3" winner -- and/or a Dress of the Month Contest winner or "With Honors" winner.
  • No commercial pages or advertising, please. This is a personal wedding dress archive -- not a commercial resource. Commercial sites are welcome in several other rings, including the The Knot Wedding Pros Webring, and The Ultimate Wedding Link Exchange.
  • The pages must not contain any obscene or offensive graphics or words or references to sex or drugs. In other words, they must maintain a "G" rating.
  • Place the Dress Contest Webring navigation tool on the first entry into your wedding and/or wedding dress-related site, or have your ring links page CLEARLY labeled. Do not "bury" the ring to where it is impossible to find.

If your pages can not or do not follow these rules, please do not bother going any further. Failure to follow these rules will force us to remove you from The Dress Contest Ring. Prior notice will always be given before actual removal from the Dress Contest Ring, so you'll have the opportunity to "fix" things.

Steps to Joining The Dress Contest Webring
Please follow these closely to preserve the integrity of the ring!

  • Save a copy of the Dress Contest Webring graphic you see below and upload it to your web page's server. The grapic is called dresscontestringimage.gif. [ Right click on the image and select "Save Image as". ]

  • To save the ring's code, in Internet Explorer, click on "View", and select "Source". Find the HTML code towards the middle of the page that begins with:

<!-- START Dress Contest Ring Here -->
    and highlight until you reach
<!--STOP Dress Contest Ring Here -->

To save the code in Netscape, do the same, except click on "View", and select "Page Source".

You will also receive a copy of this code via e-mail when you submit your site.

  • [ To highlight the code from "View", right click and run your cursor over what you want to highlight, then press <Control+C> to copy and then <Control+V> paste it in your web site. ]

  • Change the e-mail address and name so that they are your own (if applicable).
  • Make sure the "img src=" fragment points to images on your own site. The Dress Contest Ring link should still point to: http://www.whollymatrimony.com/DressContest/dressring.html.

  • Don't forget your Site ID/password. Write them down. You'll need them to edit your site info later.

  • Change the two references of:

    http://www.ringsurf.com/netring?ring=dressring;id=__;action=prev

so that the id= is followed by your Site ID number. For example, if your site ID is 123, the href should be something like:

    http://www.ringsurf.com/netring?ring=dressring;id=123;action=prev
